Barry's BS Resume??

From Wikipedia---seems innocent enough.  RE: Barack Hussein Obama

"He transferred in 1981 to Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in political science with a specialization in international relations and graduated with a B.A. in 1983".

REALLY?  NO SHIT?

NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA

Alan Peters

19 October 2009

Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia
University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there,
but none remembered him.

Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who
also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single
person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me.

I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever!
Nobody recalls him. I'm not exaggerating, I'm not kidding."

Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of '83 political science,
pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that. Never met
him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him.

At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be
the speaker of the class? Me.

No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was
The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New
York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who
ever met him. Is that not strange?

t's very strange." Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's
yearbook and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at
Columbia, provide school records, or provide the name of any former
classmates or friends while at Columbia.

Hank, this seems like BS, quite possibly a prank done by Lefties to make right-wing blogs look foolish for jumping more on truther-like nonesense. It's just got that smell to me. Not trying to be elitist here, but the only place this story appears is in fever-swamp type blogs, no mainstream, and no blogs that actually do some fact-checking. I did a search on Fox and could find no evidence that they ever did anything like this survey, partisan as they are. And if there were real evidence that Obama either never attended or never graduated from Columbia, be sure that Fox, being as partisan as they are, would have trumpeted it long ago.

It all sounds so much more sinister than it is. I am as ready to believe as anybody that BHO's credentials are mostly window dressing. He has probably been kicked upstairs numerous times because of his charisma and his racial credentials. But I don't think his background is false.

Here's what an article at the new York Sun, dated 9/2/08, says:

"In contrast with the rest of Mr. Obama's life story, little is known about his college experience. He attended Occidental College in Los Angeles for two years before transferring to Columbia in 1981. The move receives only a mention in Mr. Obama's 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father," which instead devotes that chapter to his impressions of race and class struggles in New York.

An article in a Columbia University publication, Columbia College Today, reported that Mr. Obama has portrayed Columbia as a period of buckling down following a troubled adolescence. He did not socialize much, he has said, instead spending a lot of time in the library, "like a monk." He has also stated that he was involved to some extent with the Black Students Organization.

Federal law limits the information that Columbia can release about Mr. Obama's time there. A spokesman for the university, Brian Connolly, confirmed that Mr. Obama spent two years at Columbia College and graduated in 1983 with a major in political science. He did not receive honors, Mr. Connolly said, though specific information on his grades is sealed. A program from the 1983 graduation ceremony lists him as a graduate."

PS: I think Barry's resume, accepted as is, reeks of BS. I mean, just look at the most recent entry - that Nobel Peace Prize! No need to worry about how much of it is fabricated...

Marty
Bottom line is that Columbia won't even divulge any actual facts that prove he attended the school. I can buy a BA from Columbia on eBay. What good a BA does you is another matter.

If you read the last paragraph of the quoted article (and believe it), they have in fact confirmed through a university spokesperson that he attended and graduated. FWIW, this came from the paper's web site, not some string of passed-along blog posts.
