Breweriana, WNY Style
This post is just the beginning, some of the pictures I took didn't come out too well, and my digital camera is 4 years old, I need a new one BAD.
Anybody who lived in New York from the advent of Television till the early 80's knows these guys--Utica Club's Shultz and Dooley!
If you remember Genesee Beer Commercials, you'll remember they always used this style of glass in their ads---I've got about a dozen of these with various patterns etched into the glass, or plain like this one.
This is part of a 4 glass set offered by Pizza Hut in the 80's. Each features a different style Bills helmet, and the bottom of the glass is shaped to remove twist off bottle tops, a feature I've never seen in any other glassware. This one is from the Bills first season in 1960.
And of course this one is the helmet that we remember from our childhood. I've only got 3 of the 4 (breakage when moving 18 times in 23 years helps).
You can't see the Knight with shield unless you look close, but if you remember driving back from Canada over the Peace Bridge in the 60's, the O'Keefe Billlboard had this logo on it.
Remember when you would watch Canadian TV? in the 50's and 60's, Canadian law only allowed beer commercials to show the LABEL--never the bottle, a glass or beer being poured. These Pictures will remind you of those commericals.
Makes ya thirsty just lookin' at the glasses, no? More to come

Great stuff Hank.
Too bad "Buffalo style" bars are hard to find nowadays, outside of Buffalo, anyway....
Now drinking from one of these mugs in a *true* Buffalo (or Cheektowaga) shithole.... THAT'S heaven!
