The Money Hole
I think I've lost well over a quarter of the value of my retirement fund over the last few of months. First came the failures, bailouts, and buyouts of banks and insurance companies. Then came the announcements of the possibility of bailout money for Big Auto. And I'm pretty convinced that a good chunk of the recent market losses have to do with the election: markets are already discounting the anticipated effects of an Obama Presidency: higher taxes, higher labor and energy costs, barriers to trade, and just the uncertainty about the degree (mild or worst-case?) to which these anticipated changes will be implemented are playing havoc with the markets. And the severity of all these problems has been exacerbated by the tendency of the government to "fix" problems by throwing vast sums of money at them.
So I needed a good laugh. The Onion provided it. This video sketch is hysterical. It captures the inane, head-ache inducing shouting matches you see on pundit round tables all over the cable channels. And the actors play their roles perfectly. Watch it and enjoy! And forget about your money. It's down the hole!

Funny video!
It's times like this that make me think I should have been employed by the government or a union. But that's exactly what the Dems want; Have other people pay your way, and when that becomes unsustainable, Marty will bail you out.
