Byron Brown Sucks---Buffalo Dry!
Well, Actually both.
From the Mazurland Buffalo Desk:
My good friend Allen Coniglio, who runs the google groups Reform NYS e-mail list, posted this last night.
Channel 7 News just reported that the City Of Buffalo is writing tickets to average
owner occupied homeowners whose grass has gotten too high with all the rain. The
people involved work for a living and as it turns out, it has rained practically
every day for these past several weeks. People are tired when they get home and tend
to put off grass cutting until the weekend when it also rains. The tickets were, in
fact, written on Saturday morning at 8:30AM. Those interviewed believe that it is
just another way that Buffalo is trying to extort money from its citizens. I tend to
agree.
Another thing that is about to happen in Buffalo which many people have missed is
that the city has appealed to Albany to allow them to install ticket writing
software and cameras at traffic lights in the city. When people go through these
lights when they are red, the computer generates a ticket from the license plate of
the car captured by the computer's camera and mails the ticket to the car owner's
address. These tickets will not be issued to crazed, high speed drivers who brazenly
run red lights but, to drivers like you and me who enter a light when it is yellow
and wind up finishing our trip under the light when it is red. Mayor Byron Brown has
stated publicly that this system is being sought as a means to raise money.
Do these people not realize that doing this kind of thing will irritate the citizens
of Buffalo and will discourage people who live outside the city from entering? Do
they not understand that you can only hold up the people so many times before they
have no more to steal? Wake up, Mr. Brown. You are preying upon the people whom you
have been elected to serve.
How different it might have been now if Chris' classmate and our friend Kevin Helfer would have been elected Mayor of Buffalo?? But he had 2 strikes against him....being a Republican in a city that has elected one Republican mayor in the last 51 years--which took place 48 years ago---and--HE'S WHITE! The ultra liberal elite of Buffalo felt it would by "stylish" to elect an administrator for his genetic make-up instead of his ability. And of course voter turn out was only in the low 30 percentiles.
Some times, the F**king you ask for, is exactly the F**king you get. As the city circles the bowl, and the Seneca Indians try to siphon off what little money is left in the city with a casino, having an ignoramus running city hall, who was elected because of the amount of melanin in his skin cells, probably wasn't the smartest move the voters could have made.
Yet, the citizens of Buffalo "cling"---Not to guns or religion, but to Unions and their poorly founded faith in Government to rescue them from themselves. Pretty pathetic, but true none the less.

Hank, you are the Anti-Dave, both in politics and assessment of Buffalo's prospects. Dave, my liberal brother-in-law, is a non-native big-time booster of Buffalo. His job, as many Mazurlanders know, involves trying to attract businesses and employers to Buffalo. Though both you and he love the city, you have a darker view of Buffalo's prospects. Dave shows me the sunnier side whenever I talk to him, but I'm still not convinced. The rot is deep.
