Boo!

0021285Continuing with today's theme of Halloween preparation, here's a site showing the 10 greatest real ghost pictures. Once you go to the site, just click on the picture to see the next one.

Some certainly look more "real" than others...

Here's a site that explains the photos.

Yes, Sabres are hot!!

For those who don't know, they just tied the record for best starting record in an NHL season: 10-0.

Yes. The Sabres look really good so far.

BTW, I think Gary D. will have something to say about this post, as it concerns his hobby.

I've seen some of these pix before, though I can't remember where. They are probably "classics" among the ghost hunter community. The "explanation" site is not what I thought it would be. It merely gives you the details of the story behind each of the picture. I thought it would give an explanation of how each picture was made, or of the likely physical phenomenon behind each of the purported ghost scenes. MOre like a debunking. Though I don't discount the possible existence of ghosts, I believe all of these pictures are either hoaxes or misunderstandings of what is actually on the film. People's memories, and even their perceptions of what is right in front of them are notoriously suspect. In general, in absence of scientific evidence (of which there is almost none), all people who have experienced "ghosts" can offer is assertions: "I know what I saw!"

There may be some pictures out there of real ghostly phenomenon. Maybe Gary can point us to some. But the ictures on this site have the look of hoax on them. Most of them look posed, or like obvious double exposures. Some of the comments on the site say "Photoshop", but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure I've seen some of these before, long before the days of Photoshop. So it's pre-Photoshop darkroom magic.

Gary and the ghost hunters he hangs out with seem to want to use scientific techniques when investigating ghosts. Though probably predisposed to believe in the phonomena, they've "been around the block" and seem unwilling to accept just anything as confirmation.

The last picture was the freakiest because there was a second "ghost" pointed out in the backround.
