Gimme Some Truth!

Truthm"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." - John Quincy Adams

Hogwash! A while back, I noted that there seems to be a generator for everything. The more I look around the internet, the more I'm convinced that's true. I just found a spot where you can generate some truth! Well, not truth, exactly (that can get in the way), but facts. There's a site devoted to providing you the Top Thirty Facts About Chuck Norris. Visit the site and you'll see those facts as they stand right now. But you can change this if you'd like. You can participate in the process of fact creation! The way it works is, you think up a 'fact' about Chuck and submit it to the site's webmaster. If he likes your 'fact', he puts it in his 'random fact generator'. When someone visits the fact generator, it randomly displays one of the submitted 'facts'. The visitor gets to rate how much he likes the 'fact' on a scale of 1 to 10. The generator then gives the visitor a new 'fact' to rate. 'Facts' with more than 50 votes and an average score less than 4 are deemed not 'factual' enough and dropped from the generator's database. The 'facts' with over 50 votes that have the highest ratings make the Top 30 list. Here are couple of examples from the Top 30 list:

7. Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.

11. If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you. If you can't see Chuck Norris you may be only seconds away from death.

There are also fact generators for Vin Diesel and Mr. T. The magnificent thing about this process is that it doesn't rely on truth to generate facts. And it's democratic. All you need is something that sounds good. If enough people like the sound of it, then by God, it's true! Now, why is this sounding more and more like how the left generates its truth? And the media, too! No wonder we're perplexed! Just gimme some truth!

Gun control--other than full auto weapons, is a crock.
About 10 years ago, another darling of the left, Rep. Rosa deLauro (D-CT)was in the well of the House whining about Gun Control, and what a difference more of it would make in crime reduction. She then espoused the merits of Gun Control in CT. Then, the coup'de grace--

Rep Robert Walker (R-PA) followed deLauro into the well with a paper bag. Dumping the contents of the bag onto a table, there were about 10 handguns and a AK-47. Asking to recognize Rep.deLauro, he then proceeded to tell her all the guns on the table were bought on the street, illegally, within 10 blocks OF HER HOME IN HARTFORD, CT!!!! And we need more gun control laws because?????

I love those "facts!" In my percussion class the other day, my friend had a list of those and everyone was distracted by them the whole time! I LOVE IT! Thanks!
