What Bias?

If you've ever doubted the bias of our Mainstream Media, picture this:

You're a reporter doing a piece on the 2,000 death "milestone" of the Iraq war. One of the Marines being profiled is Cpl. Jeffrey Starr who, prior to his death on Memorial Day of this year, had just signed up for his third tour of duty in Iraq. You decide to use Jeffrey's picture on the front page of your article. You find that he had left a message on his laptop computer for his girlfriend to read in the event of his demise. You have access to that message, and use the following quote in your article:

"'I kind of predicted this, ....a third time just seemed like I'm pushing my chances.''

Now, picture choosing (because it was a choice) not to include any of the subsequent sentences in your article:

"Obviously if you are reading this then I have died in Iraq. I kind of predicted this, that is why I'm writing this in November. A third time just seemed like I'm pushing my chances. I don't regret going, everybody dies but few get to do it for something as important as freedom. It may seem confusing why we are in Iraq, it's not to me. I'm here helping these people, so that they can live the way we live. Not have to worry about tyrants or vicious dictators. To do what they want with their lives. To me that is why I died. Others have died for my freedom, now this is my mark."

Michelle Malkin has much more on this obscene omission by the NY Times, and how Cpl. Starr's family contacted her to get the full story out. Many of you may have already read about this, but it deserves as much exposure as it can get.

Please visit this site to leave a message of support for Jeffrey or to contribute to the Families Of Fallen Soldiers.

Yeah I caught that too at Malkin's blog. When I read the whole letter I started to get misty, then I slammed my laptop closed in anger at the MSM. What weasels. As Scott Ott of Scrappleface pointed out a while ago, they are part of the Axis of Weasels.

Here's an excellent post that points out two anti-Israel falsehoods in yesterday's NY Times.

Paul: It's very frustrating, because they still have control of the largest organs (we won't go any farther with that pun possibility), despite the blogosphere. The b***rds just don't learn. In fact, they get both more brazen and sneakier.

Great comment, Rachel. Speaking of more anti-Isreali lies, there is a great review in this week's (Oct 31) New Republic (a center left publication that is very pro-Isreal) of a book by an Arab scholar which purports to be an Atlas of Palestine pre-1947 that he believes should be a basis for the formation of a new Arab-Isreali state. The book is lies from start to finish.

If you want to keep up with the truth in the Arab-Israeli conflict, there are numerouse excellent web sources. One is the Middle East Media Research Institutte, MEMRI.org, which among other things translates Arab newspapers and journals to find out what they are *really* saying. The Arab press tends to put out moderate sounding propaganda in English and European languages for consumption by our leftist idiots, but say what they really think in Arabic. (The idiots are like a bunch of really young kids playing hide and seek. They think that just because their eyes are closed that you can't see them!) Another great source is Mel Yourish's blog, http://www.yourish.com/ .

By the way, after listening to the media self-love fest over the Libby indictment this weekend, I though about putting up a short post titled "The Libby Endictment". Text: If you're wondering why we haven't touched upon the Libby Indictment here at Mazurland Blog, it's because we only cover things people give a sh*t about."

The sentiment expressed there is not quite right. We at Mazurland care that the media makes mountains out of mole hills and abets political witch hunts. But I think it pretty much sums up and expresses what most people think about the whole affair. It's basically a media circle-smooch. I only hope Wilson and his wife get theirs, too.
